This Spanish-language edition presents Edgar Rice Burroughs's *At the Earth's Core* (1914), originally serialized in *All-Story Weekly* from April 4-25, 1914, and first published in book form in 1922. The catalog note describes the Pellucidar cycle—six novels and four short stories comprising seven works total—an imaginative hollow-earth science fiction series inspired by Verne's *Journey to the Center of the Earth*. Pellucidar features an interior world with an eternally suspended sun, perpetually illuminated, where time perception becomes illusory. Its fauna combines prehistoric species without temporal progression: Secondary reptiles, Tertiary mammals, and Quaternary megafauna coexist. Human inhabitants exist at two evolutionary stages—the Neanderthal-like Sagoths and modern homo sapiens Gilaks—alongside intelligent reptile species: the pterodactyl-resembling, human-flesh-eating, hypnotic Mahars, and the serpent-headed, scale-covered, lance-wielding Horibs mounted on swift Gorobors. The protagonist David Innes, a Connecticut mining heir, partners with the inventor Perry to test a mechanical earth-boring device ("iron mole"). During their maiden voyage, the machine descends uncontrollably into the planet's interior, beginning Innes's ten-year adventure in this lost world.
