Pellucidar

Pellucidar: A Sequel to "At the Earth's Core" This 1923 novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, illustrated by J. Allen St. John, continues the adventures of David Innes in the inner world. The narrative frame features a letter from explorer Cogdon Nestor to the author describing his discovery of a buried telegraph instrument in the Sahara Desert, its clicking revealing contact with Pellucidar. Accompanied by telegraph operator Frank Downes, the narrator journeys to retrieve the device and establish communication with Innes. The subsequent serial presents fifteen chapters tracking Innes's further exploits: encounters with prehistoric creatures, conflicts with the reptilian Mahars and their Sagoth servants, struggles involving the treacherous Hooja, kidnappings and escapes, and ultimately conquest and peace. The narrative involves various allies and antagonists in the hostile terrain of this subterranean world.
