This issue of *The Railroad Man's Magazine* (Vol. X, No. 1) features railroad-focused fiction, serials, and non-fiction. The lead serial is Stephen Chalmers's "Treasure of the World" (Part I); other serials include Bannister Merwin's "The Dam-Builders" and Johnston McCulley's "The Courage Club," continuing episodes involving P. Skee's perils and Hugh Drake's self-discovery. Edward Bedinger Mitchell concludes "The Spider of Palermo."
Short stories include Harry Bedwell's illustrated "Campbell's Wedding Race," Miles McKercher's "The Pumpkin-Vine Special," and contributions by James Francis Dwyer, Edgar Welton Cooley, and others. Special articles cover railroad operations: Robert H. Rogers describes "Silent Heroes of the Rail," while regular features examine ticket scalping, station-agent work, and railroad life. Gilson Willets contributes the eighth installment of "Riding the Rail from Coast to Coast," chronicling his travels documenting American railroad operations and personnel nationwide.
