Crawford Hamilton provides an extensive illustrated tour of New York's Central Park, discussing its 840 acres, landscape design achievements, architecture including the Bethesda Fountain (designed by Emma Stebbins), statuary collection, botanical plantings with emphasis on exotic species, and seasonal attractions. The issue also begins "Plays and Players of the Day" by Morris Bacheller, which examines drama and theatrical evolution, contrasting ancient Greek tragedy with the rapid development of modern comedy.
