This September 1947 issue of Sports Fiction contains three action-packed novelets centered on athletic pursuits. "Star Struck" by T. W. Ford concerns baseball player Mel Sellers, who attempts to model his private life after his sporting idols. John D. MacDonald contributes "That Old Grey Train," a boxing story about an aging fighter named Singer Washburn who still finds ways to contribute to the sport. Roe Richmond's "Blind Baskets" features basketball player Killmartin navigating competition through dead reckoning.
