This issue collects mystery and crime fiction from established authors. Gerald Kersh's "Murderer's Eye" concerns Rurik Duncan, a hardened criminal and bank robber who, while awaiting execution, donates his distinctive yellowish, voluntarily-contracting eyes to eye surgeon Doctor Holliday for grafting to blind children. Rurik refuses to reveal the location of $2.6 million he stole in an armored truck robbery near Butte, Montana. Doctor Holliday grafts Rurik's right eye into four-year-old Dicky Aldous over eight operations. When Dicky awakens able to see, his wealthy, sheltered parents discover the child speaking in crude street vernacular and referencing criminal activities—apparently accessing memories or knowledge from the donor eye itself. The story explores whether transplanted neural tissue carries the consciousness or experiences of its original owner.
