The Alchemist, Vol. 1, No. 5
The Alchemist (Final Issue) This final issue of *The Alchemist*, a Denver-based science fiction fanzine, contains the conclusion of A. Merritt's "Rhythm of the Spheres" serial. Featured articles include Robert W. Lowndes's "Notes On Devil Worship," an extended analysis of the Black Mass as depicted in Joris Karl Huysmans's *Là-Bas*, and Carl H. Claudy's autobiographical essay discussing his publications in *American Boy* magazine. The issue includes Ray Bradbury's humorous piece "I Am Positively Not Robert Bloch!", a verse contribution from Bess Foster Smith titled "Regeneration," and science fiction background commentary by Otis Adelbert Kline. Editor Charles Ford Hansen's farewell editorial explains the magazine's closure due to editors' competing obligations and illness. Advertising mentions the upcoming World Science Fiction Convention in Denver (July 5-6) and promotes Lovecraft's *The Outsider and Others*.
