Weird Tales, Vol. 9, No. 3

This March 1927 issue of *Weird Tales* features "The City of Glass" by Joel Martin Nichols Jr., a sci-fi adventure in which an expedition discovers a mirage-city in the Sahara Desert. Led by Professor Lome (accompanied by his daughter Constance, her fiancé Colin Penfield, and the narrator), the group investigates rumors of an ancient Atlantean settlement. After their Arab guides abandon them in the desert, the expedition persists toward distant hills, detecting strange sweet odors and encountering a mysterious aged figure in unusual clothing. The issue also contains Seabury Quinn's Jules de Grandin werewolf tale "The Blood-Flower," Victor Rousseau's "The Seventh Symphony" (a Dr. Ivan Brodsky story), Edmond Hamilton's "Evolution Island," and H.P. Lovecraft's "The White Ship," plus the third installment of John Martin Leahy's serial "Drome."
