Western Story Magazine, October 9, 1926. This issue contains two serials: "The Masked Marshal of Altamonte" by George Gilbert (part one of a four-part story) and "The Temple of the Sun" by Arthur Preston Hankins (part four of a six-part serial). Four short stories include "Horse Before the Car," "The Phantom Piute" by Ray Humphreys, "Fifty-seven Flat" by Frank Richardson Pierce, and "Gunfleet's Dicker" by Ernest Haycox. The Gilbert serial opens with El Tigre Blanco, an albino bandit leader terrorizing the Altamonte region, dispatching a spy to infiltrate a ranchers' meeting while protagonist Arthur Hones gathers neighboring cattlemen to coordinate against rustling and raids. Supporting features include articles on frontier history by Edna Erle Wilson and dog breeds by David Post, plus miscellaneous notes on western geography and recreation.
