WILD CHERRIES, September 1933 This second issue of *Wild Cherries*, a sixty-four-page humor and entertainment monthly, contains illustrated stories, jokes, and satirical poetry. The featured story "Into the Unknown," attributed to Prof. Horatius Q. Fiddlesniff as told to Allen Mack, is a fantastic tall tale involving a professor who discovers "Congressional Gas" in Washington, distills it from Congressional Records, and accidentally launches the Capitol dome into space, landing on an alien planet where he encounters the vanished Judge Crater and Elmer T. Phipps. Other content includes "Broadway's Mother Goose," contemporary nursery rhymes set in 1930s New York; "The Rubaiyat of Broadway"; astrological commentary by Aurora; Philip McCan's radio broadcast column; and "She Knew What She Wanted" by Ruby Gruber. The issue contains numerous cartoon illustrations, short jokes, and social satire typical of period humor magazines.
