World Wide Adventure No. 1

This issue contains four adventure stories. "Monsieur Murder" by Theodore Roscoe is set in the Alpine trenches during 1918, following narrator Thibaut Corday and American soldier Sandhurst as they hunt an Austrian sharpshooter nicknamed Monsieur Murder. Sandhurst becomes obsessed with revenge after being shot, leading to a nocturnal confrontation in a moonlit valley. "Thunder Deck" by R. V. Gery, set around 1910 aboard the cargo ship Blackstone sailing between Havana and Cadiz, involves shipboard intrigue and apparent mutiny among the crew. "Bayou Trap" by Hapsburg Hebe features Steptoe Jimerson, a bayou dweller plotting murder while competing with rival Bink Holloway for access to a girl named Nanna, with deputy Lafe Sebring tracking criminals through forensic means. "The Black Pearl" depicts an enslaved Indian elephant named Jivan who rebels against his captors, with scenes of elephant intelligence and interaction with handlers and other elephants, culminating in a drowning incident.
