Young Wild West at Magic Mark; or, Showing Them How to Run a Camp This October 1916 dime novel (#730) features the titular hero Young Wild West with his two partners—Cheyenne Charlie, a famous scout, and Jim Dart—arriving at the rough mining camp of Magic Mark, Montana. The camp of 62 inhabitants (56 men, 4 women, 1 child, and 1 Chinese person) is ruled by the bullying Hen Holt, who pistol-whips an arriving tenderfoot. Wild West intervenes, eventually forcing Holt and his associate to drop their guns through sheer nerve and marksmanship. After the men attempt a physical attack, Young Wild West floors both with his fists. Cheyenne Charlie and Jim Dart then humiliate them by dunking both bullies into a water trough.
