Young Wild West's Fight on the Plains This issue of *Frank Tousey's* western pulp magazine (No. 318, November 20, 1908) features the story "Young Wild West's Fight on the Plains, or How Arietta Saved the Settlement," by An Old Scout. The narrative begins at Fort Bridger, Wyoming, where a dispute arises between a cavalry officer and a cowboy over whose horse is faster. Young Wild West settles the argument by proposing a three-way race; his sorrel stallion Spitfire handily wins.
