The primary incident occurred on November 29, 1948, in San Francisco, California, when a civilian science teacher observed a glowing, spherical object through binoculars from his backyard at approximately 21:15 hours. The object, described as yellowish and emitting steady light without fire or sound, traveled from east to north-northwesterly direction, made a definite directional turn, and disappeared behind fog over the Golden Gate Bridge within approximately seven seconds. The witness reported the object appeared too fast to be an aircraft.
