This document is not a pulp magazine but a military intelligence record. It is a classified USAF Project 10073 report (Blue Book UFO investigation) dated March 15, 1961, documenting a sighting near Misawa Air Base, Japan. Three military witnesses—Captain John Hoex (pilot), Lieutenant Jack Weatherby (mobile control), and SSgt Charles Muhl (tower operator)—reported observing a large object falling from the sky with a long fiery tail. The pilot estimated the object at 10 meters altitude; descriptions of coloration varied (fiery green, white to greenish-blue to orange). The object descended at approximately five degrees from vertical and reportedly disintegrated into at least ten pieces around 10 degrees above the horizon. Japanese authorities confirmed no rocket test firings occurred that date. The report includes coordination with JASDF liaison and indicates the sighting was passed to intelligence analysis centers.
