Adventure, May 23, 1926
This issue of *Adventure* magazine (May 23, 1926) contains one complete novel, two complete novelettes, and several shorter stories. "The Sun Crows" by Sidney Herschel Small is the featured novel, set in the Japanese mountains where Westgaard, a silk-production manager, returns to his house to find an English stranger named Heald, the new relief-agent, already ordering servants and consuming Westgaard's carefully rationed supplies. The conflict centers on authority and hospitality as Westgaard receives an official letter he refuses to immediately read. The issue also advertises forthcoming serials including Talbot Mundy's "Ramsden" (Tibet expedition), Leslie McFarlane's novelette "The Agent of the Hawk," and stories by Leonard H. Nason and Norman Springer. Other contributions include works by Arthur O. Friel, Charles Victor Fischer, and Arthur D. Howden Smith's serial "A Manifest Destiny." The table of contents lists stories set in varied locations: Formosa, the Painted Desert, Florida, Nicaragua, and the West Coast.
