This issue of *Beadle and Adams* contains the first installment of "You-Bet Bob's Circus: High Old Times at Hold-Up," by Arizona Cy. Upon arriving at the Grand Central Hotel, broke and hungry, the pair encounters the proprietor Samson Brown. Unable to pay for meals, they attempt to solve their predicament by inviting everyone at the hotel to drinks, hoping their charm will somehow resolve their financial crisis. The narrative employs frontier dialect and focuses on the pair's misadventures and resourcefulness.
