Arizona Jack; or, Giant George's Tender-Foot Pard

Arizona Jack; or, Giant George's Tender-foot Pard by "Buckskin Sam" (Major Sam S. Hall) is a western adventure serial published October 31, 1882. The narrative continues from a previous story, "Giant George; or, the Angel o' Peñarlayno Range." It concerns Sardine-box City, an Arizona mining settlement near the Gila and San Carlos rivers, depopulated after the defeat of the Panther bandit gang led by El Capitan (Edward Willoughby). A newcomer—John Burke from Wilmington, Delaware, who adopts the frontier name "Arizona Jack"—arrives at the Nugget Hotel as a tender-foot. Marm Holbrook, the landlady, recounts recent events: how the "Angel," Miss Lena Lawrence, came seeking her murdered brother's grave, found it with Giant George's aid, defeated the Panthers in battle, and departed with her fiancé Rudolph Reynolds. The town has since declined. Jack's arrival and the subsequent commotion in the bar suggest new complications ahead.
