Beadle's Half Dime Library, No. 889

This issue of Beadle and Adams' pulp weekly contains the serial "New York Nat's Deadly Deal" by Colonel Prentiss Ingraham, featuring the title character—a young secret detective who leads the "Unknown Boy Police," a mysterious organization of juvenile agents. At a garden concert, Nat recognizes a well-dressed gentleman accompanying wealthy banker's daughter Maybel Kingdon (whom he once rescued from runaway horses) as a villain, though he cannot immediately place him. He then confronts one shadower as a detective, but is ambushed by Killer Bill with a cane strike and knife thrust. The action concludes with the convicts fleeing while Nat lies wounded.
