*El señor de los lobos* by Clark Carrados This Gothic horror serial depicts Count Rijkdahl von Kinnus, a towering, red-haired nobleman in the Carpathian village of Schmüntzburg, who brutally imprisons his wife Inge in the castle cellar, walling her into a stone niche with chains and minimal provisions—accusing her of infidelity with Robert Wass, though she protests her innocence. Before sealing her tomb-like prison, Inge curses her husband, prophesying he will return to join her in death. The narrative shifts to John Wittleman, a genealogist hired by a wealthy client, arriving by sledge in winter. The coachman Hans regales him with local folklore: Von Kinnus is widely believed demonic, accompanied by four enormous savage dogs, especially a vicious female named Miffy. Local legend also speaks of hidden Von Kinnus treasure protected by an ancient stone inscribed *Noli me tangere* ("touch me not"). After crossing a mountain pass, an avalanche is triggered by a gunshot. The sledge barely escapes, only to be pursued by the count's four monstrous hounds descending a snowy slope toward them.
