Catalog Note *El Monstruo* by Clark Carrados, issue #472 of the Selección Terror weekly pulp series (Editorial Bruguera, 1982), presents a horror narrative divided into chapters. The story opens with Andy Howe, a voyeuristic observer watching a house through binoculars, who is brutally attacked and killed by an enormous, phosphorescent-eyed beast. The narrative then shifts to Kid Calhoun, a young backpacker hiking through the English countryside who encounters an injured wolf-dog, removes a nail from its paw, and treats the wound. Calhoun subsequently meets Maureen Delbert, an attractive woman whose borrowed car has broken down; he repairs it by fixing a severed cable. Maureen mentions traveling to Stodd Green and Hetwell Hills, a property she has inherited. In Chapter II, lawyer Neil Chane discusses with Maureen the difficulties in restoring Hetwell Hills, citing both unresolved inheritance documentation and a mysterious threat he refers to as "the Havistock beast"—though details remain unclear in the OCR text.
