Doc Savage: Los Monstruos
Los Monstruos This Spanish-language Doc Savage serial, by Kenneth Robeson, follows Bruno Hen, a half-breed trapper in Michigan's Superior Lake region. Bruno steals muskrat pelts from neighbors, particularly the honest but slow-witted Carlos MacBride. After selling his stolen furs, Bruno visits the "Atlas Congress of Wonders" carnival, where he mocks three genuine pinhead cannibals ("cabezas de alfiler") imported from Africa. A showman humiliates him by claiming the pinheads recognize him as their lost brother. Later, the three starving pinheads, abandoned when the circus goes bankrupt, appear at Bruno's cabin seeking food. Bruno beats them brutally and drives them into the forest, where mysterious screams follow shortly after. Months later, Bruno returns from a failed guiding season after attempting to steal from an employer. The narrative establishes Bruno's cruelty and dishonesty while introducing Doc Savage as a legendary figure of justice, hinting at his involvement in forthcoming events.
