A man and woman are transported back in time to experience life two hundred years ago, where they observe the George Wythe House estate and its various outbuildings in which slaves and servants performed different types of labor. The story contrasts the difficult manual work of that era—such as blacksmithing, forging, and textile production—with modern industrial advances, including electric-powered machinery, assembly-line production, and worker specialization that revolutionized manufacturing and made tasks easier and more efficient.
