Adventures Into the Unknown #69 This issue contains at least two separate stories. "The Curious Carstairs Case" involves a man who invades the past and discovers a secret passage that led to Fort Dearborn, learning that Colonel Carstairs had known about a payroll theft from November 14, 1863. A second story follows astronauts on a space voyage toward a distant planet where they encounter a mysterious, intelligent bird-like creature that communicates and demands food; the creature's vocabulary grows as it learns, eventually displaying human-level intelligence and emotional complexity, including resentment at its captivity.
