This anthology issue contains at least two war stories. "The Lost Platoon" depicts American soldiers Haney and others facing a hopeless situation during combat, cut off from their unit and awaiting what they believe will be their final charge against Nazi forces. "The Right Gun at the Right Time" is set during the Korean War, where American soldiers defend a field hospital against a massive Chinese Communist assault; a captain requests a quad .50 machine gun to help hold the position, and the soldiers discover a cave passage that may provide tactical advantage, though they express doubt about their ability to successfully defend against the overwhelming enemy force.
