Battle Cry #3

This anthology contains two war stories set during combat operations. "Field Order No. 549" depicts a World War II bombing raid in which General Briggs orders 400 B-17s to attack Germany, with Captain Ray Lawrence commanding "The Big Kill" as lead ship toward the English Channel; the crew communicates via radio as they encounter enemy fire and flak. "Lucky Carlson" follows a soldier attempting to acquire a tank on a bet, discovering that Communist forces have strung dynamite on a bridge to ambush American troops, leading to intense combat where Carlson uses gunfire to detonate the explosives and destroy enemy positions.
