Battle Fire #1

Battle Fire #1 is a war anthology featuring multiple stories. "The Gambler" follows a young bomber pilot whose gambling addiction concerns his commanding officer; despite warnings, the pilot's obsession nearly costs him his life when his damaged B-17 loses altitude over Germany and barely makes it back to the English Coast, where he manages to land safely. A second story titled "The Captain Was a Coward" depicts a commanding officer who abandons his men during a mortar attack, leaving them pinned down in an ambush; he later takes off alone rather than help his surviving soldiers. The issue also includes a story involving an ancient stone idol worshipped by the enemy, which American soldiers discover and use as cover during combat in a temple setting.
