This issue contains two war stories. "Desert Danger" depicts Allied soldiers under fire in a desert combat zone, with enemy forces attacking from above and ground positions. "Jungle Rot" follows soldiers in the Pacific theater during World War II who are fighting Japanese forces in a jungle island setting; the narrative emphasizes the psychological and physical toll of jungle warfare, including disease and combat trauma, while depicting a soldier named Chuck who injures his ankle during operations and must be evacuated, with his commanding officer expressing pride in his service. A third story, "Like Father—Like Son," deals with a soldier wrestling with the decision to join the Army and follow in his father's footsteps as a soldier.
