Ben Bowie and His Mountain Men #14

Ben Bowie and his mountain men cross a massive beaver dam while traveling toward French territory, where they encounter a woman who warns them to hold their fire as French forces approach. The group uses signal horses to communicate with other members of their party, but one mustang is lost to a wolf pack. Later, Ben's group searches for a missing husband at an alcohol camp, discovering an Indian among the white men and leading to a tense confrontation where a woman nearly shoots the Indian before Ben stops her.
