Bill West must reach his gun to stop a maddened steer that has escaped, leading to a desperate confrontation at a water tower where he becomes trapped between the charging animal and pursuing outlaws. In a separate story, "Right Handy to Have Around," young Buck Farrell is fired from the Circle C ranch as winter approaches, but discovers that two suspicious newcomers arriving at the ranch may be connected to a wanted outlaw named Russ Kenyon with a $500 reward, prompting Buck to take action to prove his worth to the outfit.
