Black Fury #17

Black Fury, a wild stallion, protects a struggling colt from a mare and foal that come to feed at a watering hole, establishing himself as the leader of the herd. The colt gains strength under Black Fury's protection, and the black stallion becomes increasingly devoted to safeguarding the young animal from the dangers of the desert. When the colt begins to sink in quicksand, Black Fury acts instinctively, running to help, leaping over the struggling animal and knocking it flat to save it from drowning.
