The Blue Beetle fights gangsters of the underworld who have stolen money, struggling to recover a bill that falls during their escape and ultimately retrieving it through a nearby window. In the backup story "Yarko the Great Master of Magic," a mysterious magician visits the Lawton home after Carole Lawton sends an urgent message to her estranged father; Yarko discovers that Rita Lawton has been smuggling jewelry in her hollow heels and warns her against continuing the illegal activity, threatening to have her arrested if she does not stop.
