A young woman training to be an airline hostess finds herself torn between two men: Rick, a wealthy college student from an agonizing past, and Ken, a humble man of modest means. After Rick invites her to an exclusive gathering with wealthy bankers and their families at a ritzy beach hotel, she grows closer to Ken, who expresses his genuine affection. However, when Ken abandons her at the beach despite his promises, she realizes she cannot ignore the class differences and social expectations that divide them, ultimately finding herself unable to pursue either relationship with a clear heart.
