Candy attempts to recruit the celebrity speaker Ted Pawson to address her school club by approaching him as a veteran club member, but her scheme backfires when the principal summons her for interviews following suspicious activity at a school dance. When Ted discovers that Candy was behind the disruption at the dance—where money fell from his pocket during a jitterbug performance—he agrees to speak at the school, and Candy's mother rewards her daughter's persistence by throwing a surprise party for Ted at their home.
