A teenage girl named Candy becomes involved in romantic complications when she attempts to help her friend Tina by asking Ted to the "hop" tomorrow night instead of going with Tina, but Candy's plan backfires when she encounters Hoagy Hafner, a boy she previously rejected. Later, Candy goes shopping at a department store where she encounters her friend and a mishap with a perfume counter results in comic chaos, with a man being sprayed and various hijinks ensuing involving the store's merchandise and customers.
