Candy leaves for a long journey and must say goodbye to her friend Cornelia. When a gypsy named Trish encounters Candy and reads her palm, she predicts Candy will become a piano-playing girl. Meanwhile, Ted prepares to guard Pop's store while keeping an eye on Candy, but complications arise when Candy ends up at the Conservatory taking lessons from instructor Eric Gretley. After being told Dave plans to take her out on a date, Candy decides to taxi to the Conservatory tomorrow to pursue her musical studies. Later, Candy dreams of becoming a sophisticated French woman, though her plans become complicated when Candace O'Connor—a French exchange student—arrives and insists that Candy has no exceptional qualities, causing confusion and rivalry between the two girls over Dave's affections.
