Candy and her friend Ted go on a hiking trip, but Candy loses Ted's prized prehistoric gnu bone in a shrubbery. A museum curator threatens to sue her for destroying the specimen, though Candy's dog accidentally switched it for a ham hock. Later, Ted becomes jealous when Candy plans to attend a masquerade ball with another boy named Harlan, but Ted shows up anyway. At the ball, Candy's father tells her not to be silly, noting that a man is as young as he feels.
