Charlie Chan #6

Charlie Chan investigates a mystery involving the Carnavans, a family with a supposedly dead ancestor whose ghost allegedly haunts them; the detective suspects the supernatural claims are a cover for hidden treasure or criminal schemes. With the help of Number One Son and Inspector Mason, Chan uncovers that a member of the family has been using elaborate costumes and ghost stories to frighten others and conceal stolen gold. The case concludes with a high-speed motorcycle chase in which Chan and Number One Son pursue the culprit, resulting in the killer's demise when he loses control on a roadblock during the pursuit.
