"Trial by Terror" depicts a confrontation in a saloon where Riggard and his men pursue Cheyenne Kid, who must defend himself against their threats. In the main "Cheyenne Kid" story, Amos Steward courts a woman named Belinda Sykes until Indians raid the village; Cheyenne Kid is then subjected to Apache tribal trials, including hand-to-hand combat and a final test where he must survive in the wilderness eating only deer meat while being hunted by mountain lions, with the tribe's survival contingent on his success. "Quantrill's Men" involves a separate gunfight scenario set in a Civil War–era context.
