Cheyenne Kid stops a stagecoach robbery in progress, but the bandits escape with their loot. Pursuing them, he follows a trail that leads to a Native American tribe's encampment, where he discovers the stolen strongbox and learns from the tribal elders an ancient legend about a great beast that once slaughtered their people, a legend the tribe believes will soon come true. The story concludes with the tribe fearing the beast's return and Cheyenne pledging to help them, though the full resolution of the threat is not shown in these pages.
