Cheyenne Kid #61
In "Cheyenne Siege," the Cheyenne Kid and a cavalry officer must hold a fort against a Cheyenne siege while the colonel lies wounded and unable to command. The Kid devises a plan to burn the ropes over the lantern to escape, then reaches the village to retrieve cavalry reinforcements. Red Hawk, a Cheyenne warrior who once saved the Kid's life, takes his case before the war council and advocates for peace, convincing the tribe to accept both the Kid and the cavalry officer as warriors of the Cheyenne nation. The story concludes with the command changing hands as the siege battle rages outside the fort.
