Cheyenne Kid #64
In "The Little Chief," the Cheyenne Kid encounters a proud young Native American warrior who challenges him to combat over a white pony, believing the animal will make a great gift for Chief Grey Bear. After defeating the warrior and presenting the pony to the chief, the Cheyenne Kid is rewarded with a place of honor at the tribal fire and receives a tale from a visiting storyteller. The story concludes with the Little Chief receiving a vision from a great white-feathered bird, which carries him away as his tribe watches in amazement. In a secondary plot, soldiers discover that traders have been supplying Native Americans with poor-quality rifles and rotted grain, prompting the Cheyenne Kid to pursue the unscrupulous traders.
