Chief Victorio and his Apache warriors, having recruited guns from Fort Scott Arsenal, prepare an ambush against a cavalry detachment heading from Tucson toward the Salt Flats. Victorio sets a trap using hidden riflemen and declares that no white man shall find peace in Apache lands until all invaders are driven out. The cavalry unit, unaware of the danger ahead, rides into Victorio's carefully planned ambush where the Apache warriors attack with overwhelming force, resulting in a brief and bloody battle that leaves no survivors to report what transpired.
