Claire Voyant #2
Claire Voyant is released on bail after being questioned in connection with the murder of merchant seaman Roger Timberly, which occurred during an Atlantic voyage in May 1942. To prove her innocence, Claire agrees to help the district attorney by posing as a big Broadway producer to meet with Laura Dane, an old acquaintance who may have information about the crime. The plan goes awry when Laura forces Claire into a closet at gunpoint and flees, but Claire's alibi and cooperation are deemed sufficient to secure her release. In a final twist, Laura is revealed to be hiding in a remote mountain location with an accomplice named Tex, where she holds crucial evidence and leverage over the investigation.
