"Two-Timing Trio," a true crime story by K. W. Fitch, recounts the May 9, 1931 robbery of the Pasadena National Bank in California by a man with a scarred cheek who used a window cleaner's rod to gain entry before opening the door for an accomplice, escaping with $12,000. Deputy Sheriffs Kunou and Guasti identified the perpetrator as Antonio Deus, a bank robber with a distinctive facial scar, who was subsequently arrested in San Gabriel and sentenced to seven years in prison. The story also depicts a separate 1932 robbery attempt at the Altadena National Bank by the same criminal, thwarted when a teller recognized Deus's characteristic scarred face and alerted authorities.
