Crime Must Pay the Penalty #29
Crime Must Pay the Penalty #29 This issue is an anthology containing at least two stories. "The Vanishing Bandits" recounts the actual case of the Hoctor mob, a notorious gang that invaded Crescent City on May 10, 1949, and committed a series of bank heists, killing a bank guard in the process; after their fifth major robbery, they vanished without a trace, prompting state police to launch a comprehensive manhunt using marked pins on a map to track their movements and intended targets. The second story follows a character named Joe, an ordinary man who is recruited into a street gang by the Dudley brothers; after Joe's involvement in gang violence and street fights leads to a man being hospitalized, Joe rebels against gang life, leading to his eventual transformation into a killer as his criminal entanglement deepens.
