"Double X Marks the Spot" tells the story of Al Dart, a small-time warehouse worker in 1928 who contacts a gang and becomes involved in their criminal plans, unaware that the scheme includes a double-cross. Al partners with Sadie Gordon, and together they plan an armored car robbery, but Al's greed and Sadie's knowledge of his past make him expendable to the gang. After Al is shot and wounded during the heist, he is arrested and imprisoned for three years, during which time he earns the prison nickname "Hoppity" O'Riley due to his limp. Upon his release, O'Riley attempts one final holdup but is ultimately killed by police in the Everglades, caught in an explosion while fleeing with stolen loot.
