Ellery Queen becomes caught up in a dangerous case when a criminal named Drake escapes from custody. After learning that Drake was targeting him, Ellery must track down the escaped convict before Drake can strike. The pursuit leads Ellery through railroad yards and into the countryside, where he narrowly escapes capture and ultimately apprehends Drake with the help of law enforcement, concluding the dangerous hunt.
