This anthology issue contains three aviation combat stories. "Captain Milktoast" follows the titular pilot as his bombs and bullets riddle an area while an enemy flight approaches unobserved, leading to a confrontation with Blue Pigeon Leader who questions Milktoast's competence until comrades vouch for his skill as the best pilot and toughest soldier in the Air Force. "The Face in the Flame" depicts pilot Lt. Tobey Rusk flying his burning F-86F over Korea, unable to eject due to the fire, as he struggles to escape the cockpit while under enemy fire. "Bail-Out" details a pilot's harrowing ejection from his damaged F-5 fighter as enemy machine-gun fire damages his canopy and oxygen mask, with shrapnel and shells piercing his seat before he successfully ejects from the disintegrating aircraft.
