Fightin' Air Force #29

"Follow Me Down" depicts Nazi pilot Major Cosgroove's escape attempt after his Me-262 is damaged and crash-lands in the mountains. After destroying his fuel tanks and plane to prevent capture, Cosgroove sets the surrounding terrain ablaze and attempts to reach safety, but an American pilot pursuing him discovers the ruse and forces him to surrender. The story concludes with military authorities interrogating Cosgroove about his actions, revealing that his sabotage and the forced landing were designed to buy time for his escape rather than to prevent the aircraft from being captured.
